ABOUT OPME
The Oneonta Pop Music Experience
OPME is a pop music camp held at SUNY College at Oneonta’s Fine Arts Building, home to its Music and Music Industry programs. OPME offers participants specialized instruction on their instrument or voice, and includes pop ensemble coaching. We will also provide an introduction to a variety of musical styles, music theory and ear training, songwriting and arranging, audio production arts, and the fundamentals of playing live music. Each week will conclude with a live show by all ensembles and a recording of the camp’s musical efforts.
OPME is mostly for teenaged musicians who have played a pop/rock band instrument such as bass, guitar, keyboard or drums or have sung in a structured setting for at least one year. Younger students may be considered if they have considerable experience, interest, and will do well at engaging in music activities for each of our camp days.
We seek to bring our participants the highest quality of contemporary music instruction available anywhere. Each instructor is highly trained and experienced, and has a proven record of excellence in working and interacting with students. Camp students are given ample opportunities to perform and share their music throughout their camp week. Instrumental instruction will be tailored to match the skill and dedication of each student.
